Meet The Team
Misty Kovach
President/Founder
Misty is the founder of our rescue. She calls it a “middle of the night idea” after being given two mama kitties with litters of kittens. She is a full time worker with the state. She is also raising two and a half kids, has one Rottweiler dog, Sasha, and has accumulated 10 of her own cats.
Cats have been and will always be a huge part of her life. She’s mouthy, direct and abrasive, just like a feral cat. But her passion for rescue and giving a voice to the feline population shines! Misty isn’t one to back away from a challenge and feels like this journey has just begun!
Jane Stevens
Vice-President
Jane is a proud cat mom to three wonderful kitties—Oatmeal, Raisin, and Blair Waldorf. All of them started as foster cats, but as you can guess, she ended up failing as a foster parent (no regrets!). They’ve taught her so much about the joy and challenges of bringing a rescue cat into your life, and that’s part of why she’s so passionate about helping other cats find their forever homes.
By day, Jane works at PNC Bank as a Technical Integrations Group Manager, but her heart is always with the cats. “I love bringing my problem-solving skills and team spirit to the rescue, whether it’s brainstorming new ways to help more cats or simply lending a hand where needed.”
Sara Gasowski
Treasurer
Sara is a mother of two teenage boys living in Jefferson Hills. She’s a full-time tax manager for an accounting firm in Indianapolis, where she specializes in high-net-worth and not-for-profit tax. Sara also has five cats at home including 2 Himalayans she acquired through the passing of a friend that we loving call the fancy-f*ck$rs.
Darlene Hermesmann
Secretary
Darlene joined Fur All Kittys in July 2022 and is thrilled to be a part of this organization. She works full time as a Registered Nurse specializing in Quality Improvement with one of the largest Healthcare Providers in the region. She also owns a second shift craft business and also spends many hours keeping things organized as Secretary of the Board at Fur All Kittys where she also feeds, scoops, socializes, traps, fundraises, and fosters.
Darlene lives in Jefferson Hills with her husband, five indoor kitties and six plus outdoor kitties who have become more friendly than feral over the last few years living in her backyard. She has two grown children who live nearby and a very busy granddaughter who they enjoy following from one sporting event to another. Volunteering with Fur All Kittys is exhausting sometimes but every single little life saved makes it all worthwhile.
Kasey Jones
Trustee
This is Kasey and she’s allergic to cats. So how is she involved with a CAT rescue you ask? Well, Misty is her BFF and because of this, I have been involved with Fur All Kittys since the very beginning. Because of her allergies, she tries to do more of the “behind the scenes” tasks like FaceBook.
Kasey is married and has a 14 year old son. They also have 2 dogs - Coco (pitbull mix) and Max (Presa Canario). She’s employed full time with the Commonwealth of PA as a Child Support Enforcement Specialist.
Jessica Peterson
Volunteer Coordinator
Jessica found herself in over her head after discovering Fur All Kittys. She is up to eleven cats of her own and three dogs. Ten of those cats were foster fails, whoops!
Jessica resides in Forward Township with her loving husband and three amazing boys, who are her entire world. More than anything, she enjoys being at home with her family! She works full time changing poopy diapers and consoling children with “big feelings”, AKA an early childhood professional.
Jessica dreams to one day own a small cat sanctuary and rescue all the unwanted, unloved, shy and weird cats.
Huong Vo
Fundraiser Coordinator
Huong is a nurse practitioner with National Staffing Solutions where she conducts compensation and pension exams for Veterans and with Integrated Health 21 where she conducts virtual wellness evaluations.
Her and her fiance live in Monroeville and they have six cats and one dog, a pit lab mix. Three of their kittens are recent foster fails. They decided to foster this year when they heard that rescues and shelters needed volunteers and fosters. Huong says fostering with Fur All Kittys has been a fun and rewarding experience and they will continue to do so. Her goal is to help as many cats as possible.
Jennifer Krantosky
Medical Coordinator
Jennifer is the medical coordinator here at Fur All Kittys. Most people call her Jenn. She started her career as a veterinary assistant back in 2003. She went back to school in 2013 to become a human nurse. When she graduated in 2015, she stayed on as a part time veterinary assistant because she just couldn’t give up the animals.
She currently works as a full time registered nurse at a busy surgeons’ office. The two surgeons she is tasked to assist are colorectal specialists. Even though Jenn works five days a week at her full time job, she still works most Sundays as a veterinary assistant. You might be wondering how she has time to do this… She doesn’t!
She also has a 21 year old son named Layne, a 15 year old son named Alexander, and a 5 year old son named Bobby. When you see Jenn at the rescue, you will often find her accompanied by Alexander and Bobby, who also help take care of and socialize the kitties.
Sue Stein
Community Outreach
Susannah Stein is our Community Outreach Chair. Sue has been a part of Fur All Kittys since her mom adopted two kittens in May 2022. She lives in Munhall with her husband, Joel, as well as their dog, Romeo, and four cats - Cali Cool J, Gus, Peter, and Cypress, who came through the rescue.
A lifelong animal lover, Sue grew up around family farm animals and had childhood pets, including cats, fish, and hamsters. Her career has been dedicated to social and human services, advocating for the rights and independence of underrepresented individuals.
With her assistance, the rescue actively participates in local community events to spread awareness of Fur All Kittys’ name and mission to a wider audience.
Bri Panek
Adoption Coordinator
Bri started volunteering at Fur All Kittys in October of 2022. She found the rescue when she was randomly scrolling on Facebook and decided that she wanted to try out volunteering and see how it went. Fast forward a few months and Bri started helping with applications. She says it’s been the most rewarding experience being able to help cats find their forever homes. Nothing beats the happiness on adoption days!
Outside of the rescue Bri works full time as a Human Resources Supervisor at a non-profit Health Clinic. The rescue has really turned her into a crazy cat lady, but she’s glad she’s surrounded by others who are the same way. She says she’s forever grateful for the rescue because she found her fur babies and some great friends!
Maggie Yenchick
Adoption Coordinator
Maggie found the rescue’s storefront randomly one day in September 2023, and finally jumped into volunteering in July of 2024. Just volunteering a few days a week quickly turned into transporting cats, writing cat bios, helping with the medical team, working with adoptions, and even fostering…it’s a slippery slope! But she wouldn’t have it any other way. Maggie is passionate about helping cats find loving homes and ensuring every cat feels safe and cared for. She knows every single cat’s name, it’s her shelter party trick.
Outside the shelter, Maggie works full time as an Operations Manager at Penn Cove Group. She lives in Homestead with her boyfriend and five cats, four of which are FAK alums! Maggie enjoys reading, crafting, cooking and spending time with her loved ones (mostly the ones of the feline variety). She is happy to have stumbled upon Fur All Kittys and the great group of people she’s gotten to become a part of here.
Kristina Miller
Adoption Coordinator
Krissy is a mom of 3, wife and Nurse. Her family has 5 cats, 3 dogs, chickens, a leopard gecko and tarantula. She has fostered through different rescues in the past and has rescued quite a few cats on her own, vetted and found forever homes for them. She found Fur All Kittys when her oldest daughter needed community service hours for an Honors class. They began volunteering as a family, added fostering and eventually an adoption coordinator. She says Fur All Kittys is like a second family and everyone has the same goal, giving cats a second chance at life.
Brandi Polovina
Adoption Coordinator
Brandi has been volunteering with animal rescues for over 10 years. She started fostering cats here in 2023 and very happily began helping with applications recently. Of her own animals she has dogs, cats, bearded dragons and a snake. She is someone who loves and appreciates animals of all species.
Outside of rescue Brandi works full time for a steel company as a transportation dispatcher. She also enjoys all things Halloween themed, traveling, summer, going to the cabin, and being with friends.
Courtney Compton
Courtney has been apart of the rescue since October of 2023 when she had originally signed up “just to volunteer” with her son. He was the cat lover of the family. Well, 1 year later and they’ve become foster parents, volunteers and a board member!
On top of being a foster to stray cats and kittens she is also the proud parent of one 6 year old son, three personal cats (1 FAK alumni), four dogs, and four hermit crabs. In her day to day, Courtney works at Children’s Hospital in the ED and also runs a pet sitting company - For the Love of Avalon.
In her spare time Courtney enjoys crocheting, loves watching k-dramas and listening to k-pop as well as learning the Korean language. She is currently enrolled for fall classes to complete her radiology certification.
